VIZIO VSB200 The is an enclosed set of speakers with an amplifier. The soundbar does not really provide any treble/bass/equalizer control above the sound. Thus, it simply broadcasts the sound using the input source. Modern TV’s tend to obtain very good audio settings for treble and striper. This is where you will control the breadth of the sound. The soundbar does however let you turn on or away SRS Surround. From trying it on / off, I found that ‘on’ sounds superior. I read one professional audio article on this sound bar nevertheless half-jokingly, ‘just turn on the actual SRS Surround then bust the switch’. I would have in order to agree.
If your ordering the soundbar from Amazon you could consider ordering the toslink digital audio optical cable simultaneously. They currently cost $2. 77 w/ free shipping and delivery. At that cost with the improved sound quality it’s a terrific bargain.
The soundbar has a single weakness, as has been described often times from other reviewers. Out of the box the remote incorporates a limited range. The problem is not necessarily the remote, it’s the IR receiver for the soundbar hasn’t got an obvious line of sight to the remote from all recommendations. Vizio commmitted an design blunder here, but as mentioned with a previous reviewer this can be easily solved:
- Carefully remove the actual speaker grill. It’s connected with plastic plugs that hold this in. Start from one finish, it’ll come right off.
- On the bottom right side you’ll see the LED lights and to the left of the lights, you’ll see the little black IR signal receptor.
- The back side on the grill is a plastic honeycomb. Just cut a square out of the honeycomb to make room for your IR signal being careful to prevent cutting the speaker grill cloth at the same time. I used a two of wire cutters.
Once I did this simple manuevuer I needed an excellent signal in the remote from all guidelines.
If you’re on a budget and want big sound at the reasonable price for your lounge room TV, I think this is a good choice. I would buy this without a sub-woofer. Once you hear it you are able to judge whether to spend extra on a sub-woofer.
